Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave Therapy
Here at the Corio Bay Sports Treatment clinic our podiatrists use shockwave therapy in the treatment and management of chronic soft tissue injuries that are either not responding to treatment and/or continually causing limitations in activity.
Shockwave therapy works by increasing blood flow to an area and activating an immune response. By increasing blood flow to an area, increased healing factors are delivered to the tissue which assists in reducing pain, improving flexibility and improving function of a tissue. Shockwave therapy can be used to treat Achilles tendinopathy, Plantar fasciopathy, Shin pain, Tennis elbow, Hamstring tendinopathy and a number of other common injuries.
Most people require 4-6 treatments one week apart as part of a holistic management plan to address the contributing causative factors. If you have any questions regarding shockwave therapy, please feel free to give us a call or email- we are here to help!
